EH-MA-GADDD. I cannot tell you how many times I've went to Taylor's just for nothing mannn. Just this morning I thought I had class at 8 am lah kan. So I got out of the house at 7.40 am, coz I'm obviously Superman and my car is a Bat Mobile, which explains why I was super confident that I would make it just in time.
The journey from my house to college is give or take 20 minutes (without obstacles).
But dude I did not know that along that not very long stretch of road from my house to college (Coz I think of Sunway as my backyard or something, since I'm almost always there, be it Pyramid, Empire SG / Subang Parade) also have traffic congestion problems in the morning!
Okay I know lah people going to work and all, but in my head, traffic jams occur like, before you enter KL. But now I know better. Ho yeah. So basically now I have to wake up EARLIER and get my a*s out the house an hour before class.
-___________-"
I'm obviously not enlightened by that fact, coz I've been sleeping till noon for about 2 months now, and to suddenly have to wake up at 5 am is too much. What I don't get is, I'm almost always the first to wake up when I was in boarding school, and when I was back in Egypt, but once I get home... WTH I will not wake up unless necessary AKA when my mother tells me to.
Okay so the point is, in the end, I found out that I DON'T HAVE CLASS TODAY.
And after asking a few people in the same intake as myself, I would've known this if I actually attended EVERY orientation talks and whatnot.
Which brings me to the topic of orientation.
It was on the 31st. A bit of tardiness happened on this day as well, but Alhamdulillah, nothing bad happened. The thing I was most concerned about on that day was actually: DO I LOOK TWENTY?
Good thing that most of the 18-19 year olds there are dependent on make-up; coz they look older than they are and most importantly: I don't pop out as much. Funny thing was, the first person I spoke to during orientation was a girl my age! Haha. We were obviously glad to have found out that we aren't the only 20 year olds.
The unfortunate thing is (well, to me anyways) she's studying for a diploma in graphic design, so I have yet find a friend in the same course as me. Another friend I made was a girl from Zimbabwe, who's name caused me to go:
SAY WHAT. And she had to repeat it a whole couple of times. I still didn't get it, so I basically just asked her to spell out for me; F-O-R-C-U-N-A-T. She's also taking graphic design. -_____-"
It was good that I met both of them, coz we spent the gap in between talks together, so I don't have to walk around aimlessly, or puff out my cheeks and stare mindlessly at nowhere for two hours. I have yet seen them ever since, but I'll definitely be saying 'Hello' if we walk into each other.
I'm just excited for the classes to BEGIN because I have a strong feeling that my brain is going to deteriorate after more than two months of doing basically.... nothing.
BTW just look at the campus! Pretty isn't it?! I haven't gotten the chance to fully explore the place, so I wouldn't know, but in my opinion the biggest problem this campus has is in regard to parking space. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of parking bays and spots here... but apparently not enough.
I don't understand how they could've not seen it coming, given that they have over 11 000 students, and most of them bring their own car. Including myself. If I have the chance to say something about it I'll say: Build a multi-story parking space.
There's only so little bays you can add if it's only one leveled.
Another thing: I now owe my Dad THE WORLD and more for making me change courses from design to architecture. I was told during orientation that architects can do just about anything: Design an interior space, design a car, design clothes (Paco Rabanne, Ben Wu, amoung others), etc etc.
I also love how architects' hardwork will be appreciated for many years to come because a building will always be there (unless someone demolishes it). No pun intended, because I'm only using this as a comparison because I've dabbled in medicine as well: Although doctors' service are remembered by the people who they save, I simply am MORE in love with the fact that I can leave a VISIBLE mark on the world.
Even better if the building serves a good purpose to mankind, which would hopefully help garner some pahala. InsyaAllah.
Am I being too excited? LOL. Well whatever it is, hopefully I can continue being excited about this so I'd always be driven to work hard.
Oh BTW, I'm also gonna learn a bit of maths + physics!
YESSS SO MUCH WIN from taking architecture. I miss math. And I miss physics. I never would've thought I would, but I do! And I look forward to study numbers again after a year and a half of nothing but words words and words.
Maths + Physics + Texts + DRAWING.
Though my friends who are taking architecture have warned me to look forward to many sleepless nights trying to finish up drawings, I can't help but get excited at the thought. I need to draw for class.
The last time I needed to do that was back in form 3 when I took Pendidikan Seni. Drawing was what got me into trouble with an Ustazah at my school, coz I was secretly drawing during her class. She confiscated my sketch pad, and told me to get out of class.
Which I didn't, of course coz I'm bloody stubborn, max. But now I can draw and no one is going to tell me to get out of class and to never come again! :-)
Here's to me! Hopefully, I shall be able to graduate and become one kick-ass architect!
P/S: Miss my friends in Egypt especially ze biskuts. They might not know it, but I stalk them on Facebook quite extensively (whenever I log into FB anyways, coz I rarely ever anymore). These people were a big part of my life back when I was in Egypt. Their honestly the cherry on top of every day, so to just let go would be a waste on my side.
Last but not least, like I mentioned, I am rarely ever on Facebook anymore, so that explains why I reply to some messages late. But I'm always, always on Twitter. (@nadhrahzainal)
